Sector 36 is a 2024 Indian crime thriller. It is directed by Aditya Nimbalkar and written by Bodhayan Roychaudhury. The film stars Vikrant Massey, Deepak Dobriyal, and Akash Khurana. The plot is based on the 2006 Noida serial murders.
The story takes place in Nithari, a village in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. In 2006, skeletal remains of missing women and children were found behind a bungalow. This discovery followed years of complaints about disappearances. Local authorities had dismissed these reports.
The investigation began when a decomposing hand was found near the home of businessman Moninder Singh Pandher. Police uncovered multiple bodies behind his bungalow. Pandher and his servant, Surinder Koli, were found guilty of murder, abduction, and cannibalism.
Koli confessed to luring children and young women, assaulting and killing them. His confession exposed extreme acts of violence. The case, known as the "Nithari Killings," shocked the nation. It highlighted failures in law enforcement and raised public outrage.
