Anweshippin Kandethum | Indian Malayalam-Language Police Drama

Anweshippin Kandethum (transl. Seek, and you shall find) is a 2024 Indian Malayalam-language police drama. It is directed by Darwin Kuriakose and written by Jinu V Abraham. TDarwin and Dolwin Kuriakose produce the movie. The movie stars Tovino Thomas in the lead role. Indrans, Siddique, Shammi Thilakan, Sadiq, Azees Nedumangad, and Baburaj play supporting roles.

The film explores two murder cases. These are investigated by a straightforward police officer, SI Anand, and his team. The movie begins with Anand returning to duty after a short suspension. He is soon involved in a complex case. The story then flashes back to his early days.

In the flashback, we see Anand's journey into the police force. He was guided by his retired police officer father, Narayana Pillai. Anand is posted as Sub Inspector at Kottayam police station. His first case is about the disappearance of a Christian girl, Lovely Mathan. During the investigation, Anand learns that Lovely often visited a nearby vicarage. He goes to question the priest, but parishioners resist his efforts. Due to the religious sensitivities, Anand is removed from the case. A corrupt officer, DYSP Alex, takes over. Despite this, Anand unofficially continues the investigation with his team. They arrest the culprit, but the culprit escapes and commits suicide by jumping in front of a train. Anand and his team are suspended for negligence, even though his superior, SP Rajagopal, understands the truth.

Back in the present, Rajagopal assigns Anand to a new case. He is asked to investigate the murder of a young woman, Sridevi, in Cheruvally. Villagers resist the investigation due to earlier police brutality. Anand suspects Raveendran Nair, a retired constable, killed Sridevi. Nair wanted to stop her relationship with his son, Sudeep. Anand exposes Nair’s motive of family honor, but before they arrest him, Nair hangs himself.

Anand and his team are able to solve the case and clear their names. They are allowed to return to work.
